Ballweg Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Buick, Inc. did not have a Web presence prior to the launch of this site in 1998. They needed to provide their existing customers with promos and information about their service department, as well as attract buyers with information about the wide range of car makes and models they sell.
This site features a splash page with a gif animation of the GM logo. The logo spun at a more normal rate back in 1998 due to the slow bandwidth connections prevalent then. There were concerns over using Flash for the logo since the majority of users might not have the Flash plug-in installed. There were also fears about using frames, so a link was provided on the home page so that users could click out of the frameset.
