On April 1, 1965 Daniel Ballweg purchased Schmidt Chevrolet from Myrtle Engles. The dealership was then located in Prairie du Sac. Approximately two years later an Oldsmobile franchise was added. In 1968 we moved to our new building at 783 Phillips Boulevard in Sauk City. We continued to grow and in 1977 made several significant changes. We added a 70' x 75' addition on the north side and incorporated as Ballweg Chevrolet - Oldsmobile, Inc. Two additional franchises, Pontiac and Buick were added in December 1982 and the corporate name was changed to Ballweg Chevrolet - Oldsmobile - Pontiac - Buick, Inc. In early 1984, Daniel Ballweg died in an unfortunate farm accident and his wife, Darlene Ballweg, assumed the position of owner/operator of the dealership. Five years later, the dealership added a GEO franchise to increase the range of products we could offer to our customers. In addition to our sales service, we offer a full service garage and parts facility for maintenance and body repairs for most automobile models. Since 1992 Darlene Ballweg has been listed as one of Wisconsin's top 50 business women for her successful operation and expansion of the Company. We sincerely hope that through the efforts of the Ballweg family and our employees, the pattern of growth and reputation for customer service established over the past 33 years will continue! |
