My first freelance site was done for my church, Bethel Lutheran. It was awarded the ELCA Home Page of the Month for October 1997. I met a number of times with a team of church staff members, including one of the six pastors, the administrative assistant to the senior pastor, and the business director, to determine the sections needs and the organizational structure for the site. After the site was launched, I trained the business director in using Dreamweaver and an FTP program for making text updates to the site. The beautiful stained glass windows found throughout the main sanctuary were used as inspiration for the color palette and design motif of the site. The site features tabbed navigation across the top of each page, secondary navigation in a strip immediately below the tabs, and tertiary navigation as text links on the secondary pages. The color for each tab was also used in the corresponding secondary naviational strip and page header, as shown in the second screenshot on the left. There are additional navigational elements along the left and bottom of the site for elements that were standalone pages. Click the links below to explore the site in more detail.
