opportunities.
At the heart of it all is the
University of Wisconsin, consistently ranked in
the top ten of the nation's educational
institutions and one of the top six schools in
the United States for research funding. Over
40,000 students from every corner of the nation
and the world come together to share ideas,
learn, debate, research and teach on the wooded
lakeshore campus.
Several
other schools offer different options for higher
education in the Madison area. Edgewood College
is a small fully-accredited liberal arts college
located on the shores of Lake Wingra. Madison
Area Technical College specializes in associate
degrees, vocational diplomas and apprenticeships.
Vocational training is also available at Madison
Junior College of Business.

cosmetology, dance, electronics, music,
recreation and television.
Madison's
primary and secondary schools, which have been ranked
among the top schools in the nation, provide innovative and
unique advantages, all emphasizing individual student needs.
Career education is receiving increasing attention at all
grade levels. Elementary schools in Madison include K-5, middle
schools are grades 6-8 and high schools include 9-12.
