The traditional approaches to teaching, playing and coaching of the sport have given way to new, innovative and creative techniques which both motivate and challenge the athlete. The CAN/AM HOCKEY GROUP is made up of college, university and professional players and coaches, physical education experts, motivational and sports psychologists, recreation specialists and sports researchers. Through this network of professionals in hockey and higher education, CAN/AM has established a reputation throughout North America and Europe as the unparalleled leader in the field of hockey programming. CAN/AM is committed to providing the athlete with the opportunity to be the best hockey player. It is this commitment that provides the setting for our exciting summer hockey camps. Our goal is very clear...to challenge the individual to reach his full potential as a hockey player. The CAN/AM experience takes place in an environment flexible enough to allow for differences in each individual, yet structured to provide a sense of direction. Our staff and unique locations reflect CAN/AM's aim to establish a strong relationship between hockey and education. Our programs are designed so that the player can move from one location to another and find that although the programs are varied, the goal and philosophy of each is the same... to challenge the hockey player to be the best that he/she can be! Over the past 30 years CAN/AM has trained and developed many of North America's top athletes. Our graduates have progressed to play and coach at various colleges, universities and professional levels throughout the world! Whatever the athelete's hockey aspiration, you will leave CAN/AM a better individual and hockey player.
This schedule is typical for the Junior Varsity group. (Ages 11-12) and will vary from location to location and age groupings.
Hockey is not a game of individuals but a game played by a group of individuals molded into a TEAM. The learning of what "TEAM" means is an important part of a developing hockey player. Depending on the uniqueness of each CAN/AM location you may find yourself as part of a team attempting to solve various problems that will take you through challenging obstacles, rappelling from ropes down an incline, struggling to get the entire team to the top of a structure or the challenges of a ropes course. You will learn the importance of such critical hockey team skills as desire, cooperation, trust, motivation and just plain hard work towards a common goal. This program is under the supervision of our special TEAM CHALLENGE staff and instruction is geared towards SAFETY as a priority. Although hockey, both on and off the ice, is the focus at CAN/AM, there are times set aside for recreation in order to relax, have fun and take a break from the concentrated hockey program. Highly qualified Recreation professionals plan the supervised programs with the assistance of well trained counselors. These activities include swimming, basketball, volleyball, court games and field activities. Each day comes to a close with entertaining movies and relaxation with the staff.
