RESIDENCE LIFE Welcome to our CAN/AM residence, a dorm setting on the campus of the University of Guelph. Most campers reside in a single room that is part of a six room pod and common bathrooms. Some doubles are available upon request. A special wing is provided for female campers. Both staff and campers share the residence which is supervised on a 24 hour basis. The dorm complex offers carpeted rooms, game rooms and lounges, laundry facilities, lecture rooms, cafeteria, tuck shop, and pro shop. The University athletic facilities are utilized for dryland training, team challenge and recreational activities. As part of camp life, campers will deposit their funds in our camp bank at registration and have access to it throughout the week. For two or three week campers, we offer a great weekend stayover program which includes totally supervised activities and meals as well as an exciting trip to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto! ARENA FACILITIES The university's twin ice pad, Gryphon Arena, is only 100 yards from the CAN/AM dorms. This modern twin pad arena offers both Olympic and Regulation size ice surfaces. Campers utilize the locker room facilities to store their equipment during the week. Skate sharpening is available each day. The pro shop offers an extensive selection of hockey equipment and supplies. TRAVEL INFORMATION Guelph is conveniently located just 60 miles west of Toronto, 180 miles from Detroit and 90 miles from Buffalo. At the airport, a CAN/AM staff member will personally meet each camper and escort them to the Red Car Van Service which will transport them right to our CAN/AM dorm in Guelph. That's about a 45 minute trip. One week campers who need a Saturday stayover to qualify for an airfare discount, can choose our stayover option and leave camp on Sunday morning. What could
be a better location than the USA Olympic RESIDENCE LIFE Each summer CAN/AM leases a private building from the Ramada Inn in Lake Placid and converts it into a great dorm facility for campers and staff. Four to five campers occupy an air-conditioned room with a private bath. Meals are prepared by the Ramada kitchen and served in a cafeteria setting. The residence is just a short walk from the Olympic Arena. As a part of camp life, campers will deposit their funds in our camp bank at registration and have access to it throughout the week. Lake Placid, one of America's most beautiful resort communities, allows families the opportunity to combine a hockey experience with a relaxing vacation. The challenge of the Ropes Course, rappelling, dryland training on the speedskating oval, box hockey, challenge games are all a part of this unique camp location. ARENA FACILITIES Experience the excitement of training on the famous Olympic ice surface! This unique Olympic Complex offers locker rooms for each group, skate sharpening and off-ice training and lecture facilities. A nearby full line pro shop offers a full selection of hockey equipment and supplies. TRAVEL INFORMATION Situated in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, it is easily accessible from the Eastern seaboard and central Canada via the Adirondack Northway. Closest airports are Albany, New York; Burlington, Vermont or Montreal, Quebec. The closest Amtrak stop is Westport, New York, about 35 minutes from Lake Placid. CAN/AM offers a camper pick-up option at the Albany Airport. Whether your camper is flying in or whether you want to shorten your drive by meeting the Camp bus at the airport, for a nominal fee players can travel to and from Camp with us. Camp vans depart Sunday at noon and return after 3 PM on the following Saturday. One week Campers who need a Saturday stayover to qualify for an airfare discount, can choose our stayover option and leave camp on Sunday morning.
Our midwest location offers unique programming on the campus of Rockford, College, conveniently located in the midst of the major hockey centers. Rockford is an hour drive from Chicago and O'Hare Airport. RESIDENCE LIFE Rockford College's outstanding facilities have been the home of CAN/AM Hockey for the last 21 years. Players live in a modern residence which provides accommodations for 2 to 6 campers in each room. Training camp meals at the cafeteria are excellent and nutritious. The college training facilities include a 50 meter Olympic-sized pool, weight training rooms, a gymnasium and spacious athletic fields. As part of camp life, campers will deposit their funds in our camp bank at registration and have access to it throughout the week. ARENA FACILITIES The Riverview Ice House is just a 15 minute bus trip from Rockford College. The bus trip is supervised by our CAN/AM staff who use this time to practice the team song or chant. Locker rooms provide week-long storage for each teams equipment. A pro shop is available with professional skate sharpening and tape. TRAVEL INFORMATION Rockford College is just a few minutes off the Northwest Tollway and Route 51. Bus routes intersect Rockford from every major city in the Midwest. Chicago's O'Hare field is the best air route into the area. Flights from O'Hare to Rockford field are scheduled midday. There are buses from O'Hare that bring players directly into Rockford for a nominal fee. CAN/AM will make arrangements to meet the bus and transport the camper to Rockford College.
