Sites to See and Snorkel

fishNapili Bay
The nearest beach for sunbathing and snorkeling is Napili Bay. It is just a short 100 yard walk to get to it from our condo. If you swim out to the reefs, you can view a few varieties of tropical fish.

Honokeana Cove
When snorkeling this nearby cove, you can swim with our resident green sea turtles. However, they are an endangered species, so do not harass these turtles as you can be fined forty thousand dollars and spend a year in jail for doing so.Napili Bay

Kapalua Beach
A mere 20 minute walk to the left as you exit the parking lot, Kapalua Beach is also very good for snorkeling and sunbathing.

Haleakala National Park
Haleakala is a dormant volcano. It is the only place in the United States where you can go from sea level to 10,000 feet in just about 2 hours
. Take a sweater; it can become very cold at times.

Lahaina
Lahaina is a historic whaling town, with a lot of shops and restaurants and some places of interest from when the missionaries came to "The Islands." Lahaina, the first capital of the Hawaiian kingdom, was also a rowdy port-of-call for whalers of another time. Much of this fascinating town has been restored as it was a century ago, vividly depicting the days of native royalty, missionaries and whaling men. Black coral, a precious gem growing two hundred feet deep in the ocean, was discovered off Lahaina only a few years ago. Today, much of the town is a National Historic Landmark. Amidst 30 restored historical sites, you'll find a fascinating mix of art galleries, restaurants and exciting clubs. And although Lahaina is the center of Maui's night life, there are great restaurants in romantic spots all around the island. Many feature Hawaii Regional Cuisine, one of the most talked about cuisines in the world. Sailing and deep-sea fishing charters are also available in Lahaina.

Honolulu Bay
fishBeing a fish reserve, Honolulu Bay is maybe the best spot to snorkel. However, be careful -- the surf can get very big at times. It is located north of the condo. In order to actually get to the water, you do have to park your car off the pavement and hike through a mango grove.
