It's
a special place with special animals, and it's just for kids! As you cross
the lagoon over a wooden bridge, you enter the Children's Zoo where the
animals are a little smaller and, sometimes, a little younger. Beautiful
gardens, wandering pathways and easy-viewing exhibits make for a fun kid-sized
learning experience. Prairie Dogs, Asian Porcupines, and Miniature Horses
are fun to watch.
Interactive
educational exhibits are sprinkled throughout this area, including a jumping
pit to see if you can jump farther than a kangaroo! Put your hand inside
a box and see if you can figure out what's inside - a hoof? A soft pelt?
You can visit Bucky Badger and have extra fun feeding the goats!
The
Children's Zoo was opened in 1972 and is the only part of the zoo that
is not open year round. Each year it opens on Memorial Day weekend with
a special party hosted by AnchorBank. (Lot's of fun activities for all!)
The Children's Zoo closes for the season after Labor Day weekend.
