Reproduction: An adult cow can bear young by the age of 14 or 15. It takes almost two years of gestation before an elephant gives birth to a calf, which weighs about 250 pounds.
Fact: Elephants can eat up to 500 pounds of vegetation each day and drink up to 40 gallons of water at a time.
