Dane
County teachers in grades K-8 can check out our Teacher Loan Boxes. Loan
boxes help students learn about zoos and animals from within the classroom.
The Zoo Education
Department has loan boxes on topics such as Reptiles and Amphibians, Endangered
Species, Tropical Rainforests, Mammals, Oceans, Insects, Birds, and Zoos.
Each box contains laminated posters, videos, books, artifacts such as
feathers, furs and antlers, and much more!
The zoo loans
the boxes free of charge. Dane County teachers may borrow boxes for two
weeks at a time.
For more
information or to reserve a box, please call the Zoo Education Coordinator,
Rick Bilkey, at (608) 266-5922. Boxes can be picked up in the zoo's Discovery
Center between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Financial
support for the Teacher Loan Boxes was provided by the Pleasant Company
and the Oscar Mayer Foods Corporation.
