South Central Library
System provides services through 18 libraries and Madison's
7 branches, with a circulation in excess of 48 million items.
The Madison Public Library consists of the Downtown Central
Library and seven branches. Madison's library network contains
more than six million volumes, pamphlets and manuscripts for
study, research and enjoyment.

The main
library for the University is Memorial Library.
UW-Madison has 34 libraries and many special and
state agency libraries. All University libraries
are open to the public. The State Historical
Society maintains an extensive library of
Wisconsin lore and is also open to the public for
exploration.
