Glen, Please! You can't be serious about Dan Burns. Do you listen to him? He is an idiot. Between Q106 and WTDY he is on the air too much be informed about anything. He has about 3 topics a day and acts like he knows everything. I loved Deb. She didn't act she was better than everyone and she did her research. You lost a lot when she left. Dan Burns kicks ass !! I listen to WTDY every weekday from 7am to 9pm, pretty much nonstop. I have been doing so for 4 years now, and this is the best lineup you've had in that time. My only suggestion would be to put Ken Hamblin on in place of G. Gordon. He's great, but Ken is better Keep up the good work.

Madison has finally broken the small city radio mold. Thank God!! This new afternoon show on weekdays is the definition of excellence in radio. Reading down a couple entries,someone wrote that there is no chemistry between the characters, and obvisouly that person's head is filled with sand. I don't know how you managed to get so many talented people involved, but somebody did something right in the hiring department. Lastly, Dan has a laugh that is so hearty, that hearing it just makes me laugh, and Robin has one of the sexiest voices in radio. and "Doc" is just plain hilarious. Anytime you can laugh when you drive home after a hard day at work, its transformed into a good day. I think you guys should start thinking syndication.

Okay... I wasn't sure or not wether I liked you new afternoon show with Dan Burns. After listening three weeks, laughing 15 times per hour, and nearly driving off the road 4 times I must say that I love your new show!

Hi, I'm a simple college student going to UW-Madison. I've lived in Madison all my life, and one of my more "against the flow" hobbies is listening to talk radio. Now over the past few months, I've been busy in school with this and that. When I did get a chance to tune in recently, I noticed that your programming had changed. I came to check this website to see what it was all about and what people are saying, and there was a ton of comments. Anyway, in an attempt at procrastination, I went back and did some tallying of listeners comments. This isn't very official or scientific, and these numbers can't be put into percentages because some are crossovers and such, but I think everyone will find them interesting. People in support of show changes: 40 People against show changes: 146 Bruce William pleas: 85 Joy Browne pleas: 65 --------- A couple of notes on this: I went back as far as Dec 1, 1998 for the data. I didn't count couples as 2 people (similarly, there's one message that states that 30 people at workplace all switched off WTDY, so that was only counted as one) The majority of Pro-changes supporters liked it because of the added "G-Man" G. Gordon Liddy. There was also a strong opinion (not tallied)about Michael Reagan (both pro and con, mostly pro). That's about it. Feel free to send me a question about my little survey, but as I said before, it's not meant to be perfect, (but very close to it). Daniel Coates I tried to avoid double counts on things as best as possible, but this is the internet, and many people will post under pseudo-names. My Opinion: it's cancelled out by the fact that both sides probably do it.

WHat's up with the Bee pollen infomercials? I was looking for Bob Brinker at 3pm on Saturday. Please don't let this show go the way of Dr. Joy Brown's. The addition of Dan Burns to your afternoon lineup completes the dumbing down of your radio station. How about finding a host who provokes thought rather than attempting to offend & create controversy? A deeper show would be much appreciated.

Kudos to Glen Gardner for the format changes. I like Bruce Williams, but frankly I find Tom Leykis more entertaining in the evening. Besides, his advice always seems to be "get a lawyer". Kudos to Glen period. I love it when he subs no matter who he is filling in for.

I enthusiastically endorse the new afternoon format with Dan Burns. I am part of your middle-aged, male, professional demographic. I listen to Sly, G Gordon and Rush, but I used to tune to WLS for Roe Conn and Gary Meyer in the afternoon. Now I listen to Dan. He is very witty and I enjoy the spontaneous, free-wheeling format of his show. Its speeks well of his great talent that he can react to any situation in an entertaining way. At this time of day I don't look for inspiring political dialog or chatty talk about basket weaving.

I just thought you might want to know that you lost an AVID listener when you took off Dr. Joy and Bruce Williams. Both shows were a winning combination of entertainment and information. Both shows extolled the virtues of common sense, respect and personal responsibility. I will not listen to your station any more. I just can't imagine that your listeners really want to hear what you have chosen to program. I think you have "dumbed down" your programming and have seriously misjudged your demographics.

I think the Dan Burns show is about 1 trillion times better than the old show. So all of you basket loving, ear pierced types.... go away. And to WTDY... don't listen to all these whiney old farts on this board that miss Bruce Williams let me help you. Whatever your financial problem is... get a lawyer. See... you didn't have to listen to someone talk for 3 hours and you still got the same advice!

You have finally done it !! I have freed myself from the addiction to have my radio tuned to WTDY most of the day. There is only a couple of shows I will tune in to: All About Cars on Saturday and On Computers on Sunday. I hope the station management is happy with all the positive comments on this page !!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, 3:00 PM... Turn on WTDY to listen to Bob Brinker's take on the DOW 10,000 mania.... Whoa!! What's with this Potentiated Bee Poop crap? Does Sly eat that stuff? Please leave the mis-infommercials to cable TV and quit pre-empting parts of Bob's show. Your station is better than that. (Well at least it used to be).

Don't pre-empt the most important part of Bob Brinker's Saturday program!!!! (He gives his weekly market analysis at the start of the program.) Then to add insult to injury he's pre-empted by an insipid infomercial! Bad, bad, bad. Since the infomercial isn't in your "What We Talk About" program listing and Brinker's listed as starting at 3pm, I'm hoping this is a brief aberration. Bring back Dr. Joy and Arthur Frommer and I might listen to your station for more than Brinker's program. Now I tune to WLS to get Brinker from the start.

I can't believe that your ratings can be better with John and Ken that with Bruce Williams. Please consider bringing back Bruce. This is one listener you've lost after 5 pm weekdays. Also, I cannot, CANNOT believe that you would pre-empt Bob Brinker for an Infomercial. You may think that is a good business decision, but it is classless and will hurt you in the long run.

To the person who posted the "Dan Burns is a John and Ken Wannabe" note. I would just like to say that I have met Dan Burns twice. Once while he worked at WJJO and once while he worked at Q106. Each time I met him, he was the nicest person you'd want to meet. I would also like to point out that the person you hear on the radio is EXACTLY how he is. Did you read that article in the paper about him? He is 24 years old, and doing TWO drive time radio shows. He has more talent in his right arm than you will probably ever have. Someone like him doesn't stay around long and I think we are lucky to have him in Madison. He will go far in the radio business. I never miss the Bob Brinker program! Sat I was driving around and tuned in about six minutes after 3. I was surprised, dismayed and and very disappointed with the totally stupid health products infomercial that was on. I did not hear the intro because I tuned in late. What's going on? I noticed that Bob was back on at 4 and he was there again on Sunday so it's my hope that this was simply a one time flip of the wrong switch. If I had to define a cardinal sin of broadcasting it would be a decision to replace Bob Brinker with anything and especially the useless program you ran on Sat. Please reassure me.

Also, their topics of discussion are many times stupid and obscene, which has removed the listening of WTDY in the evenings from my car. Now onto my next point... WORST MISTAKE YET: Dan Burns, the Jon & Ken Wannabe. I wonder if you guys ever heard of variety in programming. I'll use it in a sentance so you understand. "WTDY has no variety between it's afternoon show and it's evening show, thus driving it's listeners away." Dan, if you want to act like Jon & Ken, move to California and just be yourself. And as you stated on your 3/10/99 show, the free market reigns... so I choose not to listen anymore, your sales will go down, and maybe something will be done... and I doubt you'll get any help from the government.

Thanks for your interest in the recent drop on the price paid to dairy farmers. Wisconsin has made its name in the dairy industry by being a cheese producing state. Approximately eighty percent of our WI produced milk ends up in "hard goods" like cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese etc. The remaining twenty percent (approximately) may be used in the fluid market. Your question about locating WI fluid milk is difficult to answer. I suggest that you look for the Something Special from WI logo on containers or contact the dairy showcase manager at your local grocery for more answers. Remember, any dairy consumption helps WI farmers. Just keep in mind that fluid milk comes from many different "pooling" sources. Thank you for your question and interest.

I listened to Sly's program on my morning commute and was shocked to hear that the farmers of Wisconsin are taking such a huge hit in the price of milk. I myself am not connected with the dairy industry but have many friends who are farmers from my hometown in central WI. I was unaware until farm director Pam Janke mentioned it that very little of Wisconsin milk stays as milk but instead is made into cheese. I want to support WI dairymen in my consumer decisions and Pam had mentioned Foremost Farms and Golden Guernsey as two WI-based suppliers of milk to grocery stores. I was under the impression that any milk we buy here is from WI--doesn't that make sense? Does that mean if I buy a gallon of Dean's or Kemps or Swiss Valley Farms that I may not be getting milk from WI? If someone could clarify or explain this I would appreciate it because I for one would like to support my fellow Wisconsinites in this area rather than pay for milk from out of state. Thank you.

I am writing to inform WTDY that I am also changing the dial on my radio away from WTDY. I have been a loyal listener for four years. I started listening in the morning with Deb and Tim, and since I work in my car, I listened until rush came on, and then listened again when Dr. Dean came on until about 6pm when I got home from work. I gradually got to like listening to Sly, mainly because it was already tuned into the radio, and I hated to miss Dr Joy. But that is gone and now Deb is gone in the afternoon. The only show I enjoy listening to now is Dr. Dean, but I often miss his show because I become interested in the topic of another show. Please, when/if you bring back Deb, (and please she left because of the horrible programming changes in the last year an started looking for another job.) and or Joy Browne, please advertise it so I'll know it's time to come back. If anyone finds out if Deb goes back on the air, please post it so loyal listeners can tune in again. Also make sure to call/write other stations to see if they will pick up Joy Browne and listen to Madisonians

I can't be the only person who does not like the Dan Burns afternoon show. He is uniforned about so many topics. I've noticed that when an informed listener calls in to counteract Dan's comment of the day, that he usually ends up agreeing with the caller. He needs to do his homework! Another thing Dan, it's "I couldn't care less" not "I could care less."
